Board-Certified Sedation Dentistry in Irvine
Get all the dental work you need (or have been afraid to get) in one visit while you doze!
We offer all levels of sedation: mild, oral sedation; IV sedation; and general anesthesia (deep sedation). Sedation helps make dental treatments more comfortable and is used alongside anesthetics to numb pain. Many people avoid necessary dental care due to anxiety, but sedation can help them relax.
Our providers are board-certified in IV sedation and highly experienced in all aspects of sedation dentistry.
Who Can Benefit from Dental Sedation?
Anyone can request sedation for any dental procedure we offer.

Dental Anxiety
Sedation allows individuals who are anxious about dental treatment to relax. Some people with specific concerns, such as sensitive teeth or an aversion to the sound of dental tools, may also request sedation.
Extensive Dental Work
If you’re undergoing extensive dental work, sedation can keep you relaxed and comfortable
throughout the process. This is especially beneficial for completing multiple procedures in a single visit, reducing the need for multiple appointments.
Medical Conditions
In some cases, sedation is necessary due to medical conditions. Our doctors will evaluate your situation and collaborate with your physician as needed.
Patients with Special Needs
Special needs patients may have difficulty sitting still or keeping their mouths open during
treatment. Sedation helps them remain comfortable and ensures they receive the dental care
they need.
Levels of Sedation

1. Mild Sedation
In our lowest level of sedation, a small amount of sedation can be used during shorter treatments to help ease anxiety.
2. Oral Sedation
Oral sedation provides light sedation. One or two pills of a specially prescribed anti- anxiety medication can help you relax or doze during short- to medium-length treatments. It’s also ideal for patients who prefer a lower level of sedation.
3. IV Sedation
IV sedation provides moderate sedation and is considered the gold standard for more extensive dental procedures. It can be precisely administered to maintain a state of relaxation throughout treatment and adjusted as needed. At the end of the procedure, the sedation is flushed out, leaving you awake and alert.
4. General Anesthesia
We use general anesthesia for treatments that require complete stillness, such as the placement of zygomatic implants in the cheekbone, or for patients with specific medical conditions.
A partner oral surgeon and a certified registered nurse anesthetist come to our office to administer and supervise the general anesthesia throughout the procedure.

We have the facilities and training to offer safe and effective IV Sedation
IV sedation is the most controllable and effective form of sedation, and our office is fully equipped for its delivery. Our doctors have extensive training in IV sedation and are board-certified by the State of California.
